GERI MATTHEW DESPI CARRETERO is one of the finest products of the University of the Philippines B.A. Arts Studies Major Interdisciplinary Program. He has a minor in Film and Audio Visual Communication.
Geri Matthew "Choi" Carretero is a versatile artist and dedicated community development worker with a rich background in various disciplines. His artistic endeavors primarily focus on image-based and photography works, which he has showcased in numerous museums and galleries. The themes prevalent in his art revolve around pressing issues such as migration, displacement, and disability.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Choi actively engages in community-based and development initiatives. He serves as a consultant and training specialist, leveraging his expertise in communication, branding, advocacy, and networking. His impactful contributions extend to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) dedicated to supporting children, youth, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and other vulnerable groups.
Currently, Choi holds the position of Communications and Knowledge Management Officer at the Johns Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics-Philippines. Simultaneously, he is a co-founder of the Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and diligently working towards completing his Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
